Shiny and new…

Designing a new template for your blog is much like investing in something shiny from the gadget department of your local electrical outlet store.

The anticipation is without doubt always fantastic; the relish of the research stage during which countless hours are invested in sifting through magazines and websites, the imagination stage that becomes interweaved with this (living the beautiful new moments of your technically enhanced lifestyle in your tiny, tiny mind) and the actualisation stage…

This is the climax of your mission; the purchase and transport, the unwrapping and activation. A small LED light blinks, a screen flickers and a dream comes alive. This of course promptly dies as the realisation dawns that it is almost exactly the same as the last shiny new gadget that lies quietly bleeping in the bottom of your man-drawer. It’s just a slightly different shape and colour and you can now watch youtube clips from it whilst sitting in the bath…

And so it is with Papersurfer. It is (as one would expect) almost entirely the same; the same meandering stream of nonsensical flotsam spewing forth across its digital pages, the same photographs (maybe a different size) and the occasional piece of music for your possible delectation but you can now (without going elsewhere on the world wide web and if you were so inclined to do so) watch youtube in the bath. Unless you have a desktop of course because that would be slightly awkward and just a teensy bit dangerous…

I didn’t surf today. Surfing is better than a new iphone. Probably…

  1. congratulations! expect that you’re passing out cigars… don’t worry. the new blog design will grow up, start to become mildly surly, seemingly not appreciate all the hard work you suffered to bring it into existence, then strike out on its own, looking for meaning and other blogs to support…

  2. found your blog through emmas house” and im really enjoying sifting through the archives (although it is an unsubtle form of procrastination on my part…) If you ever follow the surf as far south as Ericeira drop us a line!

    1. Welcome Kerry and thanks. Glad I can aid somebody in any form of procrastinatory activity. My latest pastime is obviously inventing words…
