Size doesn’t matter…

‘Size doesn’t matter!’… a puzzling phrase that my father used to mutter to himself a lot whilst rummaging in his man-shed. Very true of course in many respects…

But sometimes, it can be so tiny that only a fool would try and ride it, resulting in frustration and over exertion. There may be flailing and groaning at every attempt to mount. And when the wind gets behind the miniscule swelling it can get even worse, creating unruly lumps and mushy backwash…

To be honest, after a siesta and a chocolate croissant a second attempt can be much more fulfilling. Things might perk up a tad – just enough to get excited and utter a small ‘whoop’ at the end of the ride.

I surfed today. Whoop…
