Swings and roundabouts…

For some considerable length of time my home in Cha has been a haven of tranquility and peace. This could be read as deathly quiet and mind-numbingly boring. So I would get my ‘fix’ of sociability during my breaks at the beach – a crowded campsite and lively bars…

A couple of weeks ago my house started to fill up. Huwj from New Zealand arrived – a perfect house guest – quicker to the washing up bowl than any man I’ve known (I think he used to start during dinner). He cleaned, he shopped, he provided witty rhetoric and amusing bodily functions. Then a few days later Wolfman, Baps and their one year old boy (and my godson) Phoenix arrived filling the house with cots, brightly coloured plastic and buckets full of nappies. The house was now bursting with laughter, sleepless nights and gay banter. Add Papersurfer junior for a long weekend and things were bordering on the chaotic.

Now I’m back at the campsite and things are pretty quiet. The bars and beaches are deserted and the campsite has myself, Huwj, Olly and AD in our various vehicles in various corners. I think I prefer the balance this way round – an empty beach is much more appealling than an empty house in the mountains…

I surfed yesterday. The waves looks promising for later and in a few days I shall be joining DaddyP and LoTG in the sunny Algarve…

  1. Love having a houseful of people it is the best but I also like my space those odd weekends when I am child & pup free.. just me its about balance I reckon.
But an empty beach? Just the sounds of the sea……. BLISS
(I have lived inland for far too many years now…. erm!!)

  2. this scenerio sounds more like my studio than my home……it was chockers this w/end when we invited all and sundry for winter mulled wine and dressed them up…….. I didn’t surf today but I saw my therapist…..which had the same effect….
